RHS update thread 7.957: uploading
There is a contemplated update for RHS files. So far it is a micro - aircraft, location files only. So far only the name, date and location of AIF 9th Division, and date/production rates for F4U-1 and -4 have been changed.
All data issues and any suggestions should be posted in this thread.
We might add Soviet Liberty ships - but I need names and dates for them. For technical reasons, we add half the number of AKs to the set.
IF we issue a RHSJFO scenario - it will be at 7.957 level.

RE: RHS update thread 7.957
The former 8th (9th) AIF Division is redesignated simply AIF 9th Division. Its location is changed from Aden to Cairns. Its date of apperence from 15 January to 15 July. [1943]
The F4U date of availability is moved forward 15 months. The production rate is divide by 3. The F4U gains a production site - and it gets a production rate of 2/3 of the former -1 in each scenario (it varies at three levels: CVO and BBO families get 15/29; EOS family (other than EBO scenarios) get 18/35; and EBO scenarios get 22/43 (-1/-4) production rates. Note that there is also Corsair production in UK variants, and that all production is reduced by a factor derived from historical field rates (some machines are diverted for other things than combat). Producing the -1 15 months sooner means the historical number in the field appears at a slower rate. When conversion occurs - the -4 appears at that same rate - and ramps up to three times that rate - in about a 3-6 weeks, depending on scenario. This is a bit too fast - but the best we can do with code.

El Cid,
I didn't want to get into the other thread with the Jeremiads being flung at you, but I think what is at issue is the F4U-1/AU-1 in slot 127 (I believe). This is the one with the Feb 1943 availablity intended to be the land-based form first used by the Marines at Guadalcanal and it has 2 0.50 and 2 0.30 as the armament in the data base. Perhaps this is the one that needs to be changed rather than slot 90-something which I believe is intended to be the later version more suitable for use on carriers.

Looks like you are correct. It shows WHY the requirement a report be connected to a slot is a good policy. It also seems to affect the date issue. That is - the date was correct in the first place after all - and so I have to undo the changes to production rates.

RE: RHS update thread 7.957
Alvrmartin has submitted a ship class list of possible errors - so
the update will be comprehensive and involve class and ship files as well.
Class ID: 13 (Ibuki) upgrade from (4405) to older class (Ibuki/4309)
This is deliberate. In some scenarios Ibuki completes as a CA but may convert to a carrier.
In others it starts as a carrier. But you cannot get it before 4405 in either form.
Class ID: 15 (Oyodo) zero turret/bank in weapon slot #6 (25mm Type 96 AA Gun)
Class ID: 15 (Oyodo) zero turret/bank in weapon slot #7 (25mm Type 96 AA Gun)
False. However - the slots do not have ammo in scenarios 68, 74 and 77 - which may have generated this misleading error message.
Class ID: 15 (Oyodo) zero units in weapon slot #6 (25mm Type 96 AA Gun)
Class ID: 15 (Oyodo) zero units in weapon slot #7 (25mm Type 96 AA Gun)
False. No clue what this is related to.
Class ID: 15 (Oyodo) zero value in number and/or turret of weapon slot #6 (25mm Type 96 AA Gun)
Class ID: 15 (Oyodo) zero value in number and/or turret of weapon slot #7 (25mm Type 96 AA Gun)
False.
Class ID: 18 (Kuma) upgrade path to a different class (623 Isuzu)
Deliberate - no error.
Class ID: 19 (Yubari) upgrade from (4206) to older class(Yubari/4204)
Change upgrade from 536 to 537 for scenarios 68, 74, and 77,
Class ID: 32 (Taiho) upgrade from (4403) to older class(Taiho/4403)
This is a problem in scenarios 68, 74 and 77: class 613 should be date 4412 vice 4403.
Class ID: 34 (Unryu) zero value in ammo of weapon slot #5 (40mm Bofors AA Gun)
Class ID: 34 (Unryu) zero value in ammo of weapon slot #6 (40mm Bofors AA Gun)
Class ID: 34 (Unryu) zero value in ammo of weapon slot #7 (25mm Type 96 AA Gun)
Class ID: 34 (Unryu) zero value in ammo of weapon slot #8 (25mm Type 96 AA Gun)
False at source. Always correct.
Class ID: 41 (Ibuki) zero value in ammo of weapon slot #5 (40mm Bofors AA Gun)
Class ID: 41 (Ibuki) zero value in ammo of weapon slot #6 (40mm Bofors AA Gun)
Class ID: 41 (Ibuki) zero value in ammo of weapon slot #7 (25mm Type 96 AA Gun)
Class ID: 41 (Ibuki) zero value in ammo of weapon slot #8 (25mm Type 96 AA Gun)

False at source. Always correct.
Class ID: 1704 (ex Soyuz) upgrade from (4406) to older class(ex Soyuz/4406)
False at source. 4206 is before 4406.
Class ID: 1708 (Saipan) upgrade from (4502) to older class (Saipan/4402)
Correct but germane only in scenario 68. 1709 should be 4508. In other scenarios it is unused - but should be corrected for good form.
Class ID: 1715 (Van Ghent) upgrade from (4307) to older class(Van Ghent/4307)
Wierd. Why not the same error for 1714 or any other case pointing at itself?
The error checker is inconsistent here. Pointing at itself is supposed to be done by 0 - but using its own slot
number works fine - and is clearer to human modders who may not understand the default 0 meaning.
Class ID: 1725 (Edinburgh) upgrade from (4408) to older class (Edinburgh/4306)
The error checker is generating false numbers here - it is another case of pointing at itself - so the date is 4408.
Class ID: 1727 (Surrey) upgrade from (4112) to older class(Surrey/4112)
False at source - points at 1728 which is 4207.
Class ID: 484 (Steel Hull PC (x2)) upgrade path to a different class (1692 179 foot PC (x2))
Deliberate - no error. Different name and type is correct.

Deliberate - no error.
Class ID: 501 (Yamato) upgrade path to a different class (33 Shinano)

False
Class ID: 514 (Ise) values in empty weapon slot #20
False
Class ID: 515 (Ise) values in empty weapon slot #20
True but correct - this is a carrier and this is the carrier ammo slot.
Class ID: 530 (Agano) zero value in ammo of weapon slot #8 (25mm Type 96 AA Gun)
False
Class ID: 533 (Katori) zero value in ammo of weapon slot #10 (25mm Type 96 AA Gun)
False
Class ID: 534 (Sendai) zero value in number and/or turret of weapon slot #8 (Seetakt [SS])

Fortunately all false.

Spot checked - all either false or a problem with understanding radar needs no ammo etc. Looks like some sort of data
corruption involved but none present at source. Sometimes the "error" is intentional - permitting back conversion.

A very minor issue. In EBO SS I-10 arrives with 2 Glen units while SS I-6 arrives with none. I am assuming that one of the I-10 units should be on I-6. In game I have both headed to the same base where they will exchange.

Aircraft changes:
1) slot 127 F4U-1 Corsair: Armament revised to six .50 cal and 2x 100 pound GP bombs (no clusters, external vice internal). Units with this aircraft updated to this standard.
2) Slot 179 Corsair I/F4U: same as above
3) Slot 94 F4U-1D Corsair - A4U designation removed and dash put into place. No data change - just designation change.
4) Slot 143 P-43A Lancer - SLOT ONLY (NO air units have this armament) changed to four .50 guns and 2 30 kg bombs.
This means air units UPGRADING will get this armament. Air units at start retain two .30 cal mg.
The bombs are wrong. There is no right combination possible. The aircraft maxload is 400 pounts = 2 x 200 pound bombs (which don't exist in the database and were rare as hens teeth IRL). The normal bombload was 6 x 20 pound bombs - which also do not exist. 6 x 20 = 120 pounds. Our choice - 2 x 30 kg (66 pounds) = 132 pounds - and is as close as we can come. The maxload was wrong before - only 200 pounds - and this will correct for all units - because the load field is not unit specific.

Air unit changes:
1) slot 633 I-6 Shotai - in scenarios 68, 74, 75, 76, 77 and 79 only - changed to be on I-6.
2) slot 637 I-10 Shotai - in scenarios 68 and 74 - is deleted. There is another I-10 Shotai.
3) slots 974, 975 and 985 - all scenarios - bomb changed to 30 kg - better representation of typical. These are P-43 units - and they are P-43 standard - not P-43A.
4) Slot 2224 Scenario 68. 74 and 77 = same as above. This is the USAAF 6th/Philippine AF squadron - which in these scenarios ONLY has P-43. The armament is for P-43 - not P-43A.

Score Damaged Ships is now turned off for all scenarios. I like the concept - but it fails to score damaged Allied ships - so it isn't balanced.
[For JFO] Pilot replacement rates for the US are increased by 25% to 250 (USN) 500 (USA) and 125 (USMC).
This had not been done for EEO, EBO and MEBO - but it should be - and now is.
EOS, AIO, MAIO are revised to 225 (USN), 450 (USA) and 113 (USMC).
B-25 and B-26 production at SLC is not changed - in part to compensate for loss of heavy bombers - and in part because there are adequate numbers of twin engine bombers in PTO. Production of the PV series was increased - and these are specifically designed for PTO operations.

RE: RHS update thread 7.957
You should explain a bit the upgrade paths for ships in the RHS help file.
A newbie could find things confusing !
Expect more data correction stuff later today.
The error on Edinburgh Class #1725 is that the radar has a turret value of 0, and it should be 1

If that is a typo - you are right. Turret value = 2 and should = 1. There are two radars - but not on the same mounting.
It only applies to scenario 68 - but the class appears in all scenarios anyway.
As for how ships upgrade - see the Carrier Spreadsheet, Battleship Spreadsheet and Cruiser Spreadsheet notes.
In general - there are more options in EOS family - and CVO and BBO tend to be more rigid - less options.

P-61 armament modified so there is no top turret - all guns are forward facing - due to the most common practice during WWII. [Slot 150]

Location File Slot 2434 modified so the symbol appears as cavalry.
This is the IDF (Indian Defense Forces) Guilor Cavalry Brigade
IDF units are Indian States Forces or other local units that should never be sent outside of India - unique to RHS to facilitate local defense of India
Cavalry symbols are an undocumented feature of WITP not editable easily. A copy of any cavalry unit WITH the symbol can be modified in any editor. And WITPExcel permits direct access to the field - the same field which is marked 13 for airborne will produce cavalry if marked 12. This feature was simultaneously disclosed to Andrew Brown and myself by Matrix - which created the feature but does not use it.

Free French composite garrison unit at Noumea (slot 2759) adds 2 aviation support squads (because of Pan Am facilities there). Its composition is changed to 108 Free French Squads, 9 CS Sapper Squads, 8 81mm mortars, 48 .30 cal MMG, 4 75mm Mtn guns, 4 95mm CD guns, 3 Obervalwagen, 3 25 mm AT guns, 150 support squads and 3 motorized support squads (in addition to the 2 aviation support squads above). This is approximately standard French infantry regimental organization and IRL the one here numbered 2000. Another unit - a high quality infantry battalion - raised here - was in North Africa by the time PTO erupted into war - where it served with distinction at Tobruk.
The Free French 55.10 aircraft spotting unit (slot 999) at Tahaiti has the 4 damaged machines removed. There are only 2 undamaged machines in this unit. This is a legasy of creating the unit by copying another unit - and the 4 should never have been there in the first place. Note there are only 2 aviation support squads for the 2 machines at this location. This particular air unit is using Vincent/Vildebeeste air art and performance data but its armament is modified to that of the 55.10. This unit may upgrade to operate the Catalina at the Allied player's discredtion.
The ROC Army 1st Artillery Group (slot 2322) and 6th Artillery Group (slot 2320) have planning modified to Chunking (413) vice Honan (404).
Free French Tahaiti Station is revised slightly - there are 3 81mm mortars and 3 MMG. (slot 2735)

ROCAF 41st Squadron (French Volunteer Squadron) is reclassified as French - giving it a different experience base of pilots to draw on.
It is a glorified flight - only six planes maximum. (slot 1086)
ROCAF 14th Squadron (International Volunteer Squadron) flights - slots 1082, 1083 and 1085 - are all reclassified as US Army for the same reason.
China Airline (slot 1084) is reclassified as Commonwealth for the same reason.

Several British Ammo carriers were dated after the close of RHS reinforcements - so these were 9999ed out - with one exception - Robert Maersk - which was backdated to 1944 - the ship being Danish, built in 1920, and available before the end of the war.

Soviet Liberty ship Erevan (lost with prisoners en route to Magadan) is added at Seattle in 1943 (slot 7477).
Soviet Liberty ship Odessa is added at Seattle in 1943 (slot 7530).
Soviet Liberty ship K Podolsk is added at Seattle in 1944 (slot 7542) Full name Kamenets-Podolsk
Soviet small AK Nogin is added (slot 7544) at Vladivostok at start.
Soviet small AP Balkhash is added (slot 7526) at Vladivostok at start. This is the first identified Soviet Passenger ship in the Far East in the RHS ship set. [In stock and CHS as created, there was no Soviet Navy. RHS added it, code was changed, and Soviet ports became functional. Before that RHS had to cheat and make ships and ports French. We have added different naval vessels as identified - and this is the first AP so identified. It was lost with prisoners en route to Magadan and documented in an article about "slave ships" for that reason.]
38 Victory ships, 100 old US cargo vessels, and 5 Victory ships were transferred to the USSR during WWII (or just before, depending on what counts as WWII - it being different from the US point of view and Russian point of view). Much of the cargo was Lend Lease for other theaters, and some of the ships didn't even sail in the Pacific (there being other routes for Lend Lease). Further - we don't count half of AKs in RHS for technical reasons - letting the other half model the economy. We don't know how many should be added to account for the cargo used in Far East Front and Trans Baikal Front - but we have been able to identify three of the Liberty ships by name - and one old cargo ship as well - and that is not an excessive number to add. If we had more identified names we probably could add a few more and not risk giving too much capacity to the Soviets. [Ships used for lend lease material not destined for Far East use - as well as ships not even used in the Pacific - do not count. Players use anything they get- so out of theater cargo cannot be put on the map.]

Most French Regiments are like the British of Battalion strength. The Free French unit on Noumea was 'Le Bataillon d'Infanterie de Marine et du Pacifique' or BIMP
