106 Days and Counting

Post by Anendrue »

According to Steve's December 1 post we wil see MWiF in late April 2009. After all these years it does not seem possible that we are in the last 100 days or so. Therefore, I would like to know the status of:

1) Getting the printed 16x10 foot map. Is this still going to be made and if so at what cost?

2) Will the in game counters be printable for use on the large scale map?

3) The idea of - pay for a pre release version. Is this going to happen?

4) Printed full size manuals. Will the RAC document come pre printed in a binder, as a purchasable accessory, or a print yourself document? Will it be 8.5"x11", A4, or both?

1 - I have this as a task item for Matrix to answer (which has been its status for 6+ months). i do not conern myself with it.

2 - Not sure what you mean here. I think not. Leaving aside the question of what you print them on, the counters are somewhat dynamic. Nor do they have a reverse side. This probably falls into the category of MWIF design kit, which I have excluded from MWIF product 1.

3 - Not sure. Not wholly my decision.

4 - A boxed version will include two 5" by 7" manuals (CD size) of ~400 pages each. The download will include PDFs which can be printed howsoever you like.

After waiting for so long since the idea of a computerised version of this fantastic game, I am resigned to the fact that it will arrive when it arrives [8|] . I have been watching the development of this game for what feels like millenia, and just can't wait for its release.

After playing the board version with another fanatic for 10 years, it will be great to get back into the swing of it ( with all the associated hazards incorporated in the game like sleep loss, not eating properly, drinking too many mugs of tea/coffee and smoking far too many cigarettes in the small hours as Barbarossa swings into action[:D] .

To all those involved in the deveopment of this game, you have my heartfelt sympathy and best wishes..... the board game certainly did not improve my blood pressure[8|]

Yes. That comes out to 300+ single sided pages at 8.5 by 11.

Rules as Coded (RAC) is 150+ and that was completed last summer, only a half a dozen touchups since then. The Player's Manual should be roughly the same size.

I have about half of the Player's Manual done at this point: maybe more than half, maybe less than half.[&:]

Will either the RAC or Players Manual be made available for download prior to release? Perhaps this could be done on the ADG web site along with their other release documents?

Not my decision.

The beta testers have had RAC to work with for 8 months or so. I have been posting most of the stuff I am writing on the Player's Manual to this forum.. I'll make section 7, Sequence of Play, available as a PDF for review and comment once I finish it (all that is missing is the section describing the 22 naval combat subphases).

That would be really nice. I'd like to read both of them cover to cover before the game even comes out so when it does I can jump right in!

We don't have a definite answer on that yet, but we would like to make that available as an option on release.

I'm afraid your 100 days is going to last a little longer than we had hoped, the release date has been set for July 27th.

173 days and counting . . .
