totaly different results...suggestions?

Post by bigbaba »

hi all,

chris and me are playing a game (he play the japanese in scenario 19). now i know about lightly different combatreports because of the FOW in the game-. but the results i get after reading his combatreports and then preforming the turn he sent to me, are totaly different.

example:

this is the CR i got from chris via mail:

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/09/42

Weather: Partly Cloudy

Air attack on Port Moresby , at 10,40

Japanese aircraft
G3M Nell x 10

Japanese aircraft losses
G3M Nell x 1 damaged

Airbase hits 1
Runway hits 1

Attacking Level Bombers:
10 x G3M Nell at 6000 feet

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Air attack on Wau , at 8,35

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 14
D3A Val x 43
B5N Kate x 44

no losses

Runway hits 8

Attacking Level Bombers:
22 x B5N Kate at 5000 feet
22 x B5N Kate at 5000 feet

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and this is my CR after preforming the combatsave file:

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/09/42

Weather: Partly Cloudy

Air attack on Port Moresby , at 10,40

Japanese aircraft
G3M Nell x 10

no losses

Airbase hits 1
Runway hits 1

Attacking Level Bombers:
10 x G3M Nell at 6000 feet

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

also, 2 days ago, he told me about a attack of my army DB from PM on his carriers which i never saw when running the combatsave file...although i had lost some army DB when i was checking the AC loses.

is there anything to do except to restart the game? chris also saves the gamesave file in slot #20 so that shouldnt be the problem.

I'm using 2.30. Where can you download the patch from? The Matrix site?

Here you get the patch you need. Just download the 2.5 patch. It includes everything you need.

Maybe this is why we got strange turns. I have v. 2.50.

Have tried downloading that & installing it, but it won't go! Keeps on coming up 'minimum system requirements not met'. :(

versions will not make a difference. I have seen this many times. The game goes forward with the results of Japan's turn. The problem is that the US is left to base plans off possibly false information.

Same here. Some people claimed that this happens when the Japanese player interrupts the combat resolution by using escape or even the exit button. But I can not confirm.

Why, doesnt the system do a check and ensure that both players are at the same level.

This is relevant for UV, WITP and every PBEM game out there!!

borner, i understand FOW can tweak results, but the IJN reporting attacks that the USN didnt see is going a bit too far.

It's happened to me before a couple of times. In a current game with Lauri, my A24's on search mode from PM dropped a bomb on the Hiryu whilst just passing which wasn't reported to me (the Allies player), but he sure felt it.

I have a feeling it could be fog-of-war, it is not unknown for airbases to mount operations which, for one reason or another (+ also the tortuous chain of command for the allies) never get reported to the CINC

Different versions will make virtually every turn have a problem. You must both be on the same version or you will have to live with our of sync replays every turn.

as I said earlier in this thread. It can´t be the same result with different versions since alot of bugs were fixed in each new edition... (and some new were added too)

Some of my turns with BB have been identical, others there seem to have thrown up quite a substantial difference in the combat turn.

BTW I have also been having the same problem intermitantly with Lauri, and he is on the same version (2.30) as me

I am sure most players do this, but always have Japan send the text combat save file with the turn, so you can hopefully catch the differences

I always go from the text combat save file anyway, but thanks for confirming it.  I only replay the turn to check the search/detection/coastwatcher results

And theese are the ones that can differ as well and that can hurt sometime for the allies.
