Air Question

Post by Shazman »

During my turn there will be air attacks each time I start a combat round. The quantity will vary. Also, when I end my turn there will be air attacks. All of these attacks, whether when I initiate a combat round or end my turn are all over the map. I understand they represent air units on interdiction, yes?

In any event, if I do no combat rounds there is only one round of air strikes. But if I do one or more combat rounds there are as many rounds of airstrikes as combat rounds. The consumed in each turn is the same regardless of whether or not there are combat rounds. How can there be more air strikes when you do combat rounds then if you don't do combat rounds. The airstrikes are not associated with the combat because they take place all over the map. I don't understand the logic behind this.

I agree, most of the time you would like to get as many combat rounds as possible, especially if you are attacking.
But if the enemy has air superiority and a lot of air units and interdiction you will be hit with interdiction strikes each combat round.
This is not logical, air interdiction would work better with one set of strikes at the end of the turn (maybe one at the turn start as well).
Interdiction hitting moving units during each combat round is OK by me.

I'm assuming these air attacks are by enemy air units. In that case, it would be interdiction. If you meant your own air units, then check to see if you have the Air Staff Assistant turned on.

I haven't tested this, but my understanding from Norm was that the purpose of the attacks was to get all the enemy air assets that were set to interdiction employed during the turn. So, if you do little movement and few attacks, then expect a lot of interdiction attacks when you end the turn. But, if you do a lot of movement (and getting interdicted a lot in the process) and a lot of attacks, then expect few interdiction attacks when the turn ends. At least that's the theory. Whether it actually works that way, I can't say.
