This game was saved in a previous version....

....and cannot be loaded.

It's the message I get whenever I try and load a game now.

I can make a new game, immediately save it, reload the program and I get the same message.

I am using v1.06 of the game, and for lack of finding the Editor, I've made no changes whatsoever to the intial install.

I am re-downloading it now to see if that corrects the problem.

I re-downloaded the file completely. Installed into a different directory. Same problem. Game is now unplayable since I can't reload any game.

Ok, so now I installed the game. Redownloaded it. Reinstalled it. Start 1939 scenario. Immediately save without making so much as a move. End game, reload the game and get the same error.
 
End the game completely and restart it. Tried to make a new game selecting the 1940 scenario and I get the error message just trying to change the scenario.
 
Some help would be nice, as this is now completely unplayable.

Can you tell us the file name & folder you saved to. There may be a bug related to unusual file names and incorrect error messages.

I saved the game as "Gameone.data" in the default file folder. I saw on the Slitherine forums a bug where if the ".data" wasn't included it could cause this problem, but I tried saving games specifically as either "Gametwo" or "Gamethree.data" etc and it made no difference.
 
However, when I upgraded to 1.07 this seemed to fix the problem.

Hi,

I just tried to get a PBEM game going. We're using the BJR mod which I've never had any problem with before. My opponent has gold version from here. I have matrix version with 1.12 patch downloaded from Slitherine.

I sent him first turn and he gets
"Exception - this game was saved with a previous version of the game and cannot be loaded"

Any idea what could be causing this? If I have matrix regular versoin + v1.12 from Slitherine and he has bought gold from matrix - is that a compatibility problem? Both of ours say v1.12 on bottom right when game starts.

EDIT: Nevermind - my opponent was trying to load multiplayer game as single player game. Seems to be fine now.
