Sound effects in AE?

Post by Grotius »

I think the devs have already posted that they won't be including new music, as it costs money, etc. It'd be nice to have a way to drop in MP3s into WITP's sound folder and let them play, but I can live without that -- I can just turn off the music and play my own. (Though I never do that now -- believe it or not, I still listen to the stock music, each track of which I've heard 1000 times.)

But does AE contain any new sound effects? My guess is no. If not, will the sound mods over at Spooky's still work with AE? If not, I hope someone makes such a mod after release. I know some people play with sound off, but for me it's a big part of the immersion.

Anyway, this is not that big a deal, and I know the team has more pressing matters on its plate. Still, I'm curious about it.

Man you are a glutton for punishment! Listened to the stock music a 1.000 times? [X(] You remind me of a guy who complained in the forum for BTR that the music track cut out after seven hours of play! I mean the music was good the first couple of times. However it wasn't that long and then went into an endless loop. I wonder about you guys![:-][&:][X(]

Hehe, it's just habit, I guess. I rarely turn off the music or sound in any game I play.

I usually listen to WW2 era music as I play,  I purchased a Tokyo Rose cd from Old Time Radio. I was thinking about getting some more shows  from OTR.

Can't get enough of the flute. Very meditative, good for setting up evil plans. [:D]

I habitually turn off the music, and usually the sound FX as well.

I love the flute music in WITP too -- it's half the reason I keep the music on. Anyone know where I could find more music like that? Quite happy to pay for it. I can't find much traditional Japanese music on pandora.com.

So am I right to assume that AE will have the same sound effects as stock? If so, will Cobra's mods still work with AE?

I just tune my Pandora station to Benny Goodman and listen to the music of the era.

Sound effects in AE.   I have asked about one thing at least once before, but it's been awhile.
Late war aircraft some of which will be jets.   [&:] Has anyone found any jet sound effects for AE yet?
This is the last year I'll ask this question.  I promise!![:D]

There isn't much change to the sounds of the game. There are some news reports that play at certain times.

The sound engine for the game will play MP3s just fine. It's true in stock too. If you rename them and replace the existing sound files, it will play your music files instead. The sound files are a range, I forget which now, but they are among the larger files in there.

For a patch, we may make this mechanism easier for the player. It didn't make the cut for initial release though.

Sorry, the whole sound thing is something that hasn't changed much. The visuals have changed a lot (even more visual goodies are planned that haven't been shown in the AARs as of yet) and the game itself has even more changes. Audio only got one change. I'll leave the details for a surprise. [:)]

Much prefer to turn the sound effects and music off as they do get a bit repetitive after a while, but looking forward to listening to the sound on AE..[:D]

Let me guess: if the Allies use the A-bomb, you computer blows up catching your curtains on fire and singing the player's eyebrows off???? Shall we play a game of Global Thermonuclear Warfare, Professor?
