Help on Expansion Team, I messed up.

Post by target762 »

When Expanding the League somehow I placed my NL team into the AL.
Anyway to get it back where it belongs?

Do you have any experience working with the league database? i.e. <leaguename>.psa?

There's a utility by Crash Davis called "PS Teams" that I think could solve this problem.

I will check out Crash's website for the utility.

What do I need to open the PSA file, if it is as simple as opening file with Notebook ill give that a try.

Thanks

I just opened up Crash's utility. last note on bottom of instructions said I should not change the Division and League ID. So this does not sound like I should attempt this. No explanation give though. Maybe at the end of this season I could move my team back to the NL.

You could always make a copy of the .psa file and then use PS Teams to try making the changes you wish. I'm the type that will ignore warnings and experiment any way. :) If something goes wrong, at least you have another copy of the database to use.

The possible hang up here, is that Division ID's and League ID's for the teams are located in more than one table. Therefore, if you change one and not the others, something is going to be out of sync and it could become an issue later in your association. That's why I disabled those two fields from being changed in the utility. Safer to just let PureSim handle that kind of stuff internally so that all the ID's mesh. I believe if you have PureSim set to check for Expansion beginning of each year it will let you make those changes. It can be done manually, if you have Access. Or, better yet, if you have a backup of your association from previous end of season, you can go back to that.
