.OPT files

One of the features in the newest beta release is an increase in the number of available .OPT files. I'd like to hear recommendations from people as to which the use, which they don't use, and why.

I have not tried any of the *.opt files because they are still in Beta release.

However, from reading through their descriptions, I think that I would not likely use:
  • MissionReconRestrictType.opt
More strictly restricts recon missions to their mission designated contact type. i.e. Surface recon mission will only investigate surface contacts.
  • MissionPatrolRestrictedZone.opt
Restricts patrol craft to their patrol zone in all cases.
  • AlternateBombRange.opt
This option will enable a range calculation for bombs based on altitude and speed instead of database data.
I have not tested these functions in any way, but am only making expressing my reluctance to use them since their textual description seems to indicate that AI will be prevented from operating as freely and aggressively as it needs to be.

The bombrange will likely end up with planes 'lobbing' their bombs in from extreme range while the planes fly on afterburner.

My recommended set of enabled options (and the set I'll test my scens with) are:

MissionPatrolAggressive -
allows e.g AI-ships on patrol missions to also carry out shore bombardments when in range

MissionTransitAggresive -
allows e.g. AI-ships on transit missions to also carry out shore bombardments when in range

MissionStrikeRedundant -
allows multiple airstrike missions I set for the AI to attack the same target to all launch instead of one by one and awaiting outcome of each before launching next

MissionStrikePersistant -
allows AI-airstrikes to continue towards the target even when they only have a partial fix on the target location

UseNukes -
Enables player and AI to use nuclear weapons (for some scens)

At this point I think I will not use the others:

AlternateBombRange -
Bomb ranges become irrealistically long both at vLow and at vHigh altitudes

MissionPatrolRestrictedZone -
my scen AI-patrol zones are designed to be small and planes should be able to exit them to intercept targets

MissionReconRestrictedType - I've not tested this one yet

I'm not saying above are 'the right' settings, just the settings I have been using to test my scenario collection; and the ones I think I will base the design of new scenario's and any repairs of older scens on
