How to get allies to act

Post by Johnus »

Playing 1805 as France. How do I get the Spanish Fleet to move with my own so I can stage Trafalgar? Same question applies to getting allies to cooperate on land. Thanks.

there is an option, on diplomacy, where you can suggest your allies where meet you. explore there.

Getting naval units to meet and cooperate is not doable, really, but on land you use the Military screen, bottom left, and make a rally location request of your Allies' land forces. Usually this is used for straight-foward ideas like telling Austria to rally in Il de France if you want the Austrians to go on the offensive, or to camp in Vienna if you want them to go defensive, for example.

You can be more subtle with it; you can ask them to rally at less obvious places and, when they arrive there, then rally them somewhere else, etc. This time-consuming but can be done, although keep in mind that if their Capital gets occupied or some such, they'll ignore you and head for home.

Keep in mind also that the Minor player Nations will not venture too far afield; asking Sweden to rally in Constantinople will almost certainly be ignored. Sweden, Turkey and Spain will usually only rally within a few provinces of their closest conquered or home Province.

Thanks Russian Guard and all who responded. A naval Rally Location Request might be something to think about.
