First impressions very positive

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

First impressions very positive

Post by 39battalion »

I have started a 1792 campaign as Austria with a detailed economy and I am having a blast. This looks like it will be an outstanding game and its quality reflects great credit on the development team.

I have only encountered two minor issues:

1.I found the descriptions of the campaigns by hitting the F1 button but I couldn't see any indication of the length of each campaign i.e how many years

2. I can't find any way to change the main map to easily identify the location of the different nations ( with different colour coding). In FOF it was possible to use a map overlay to identify the states. Maybe I have missed something here ?

Anyhoo many thanks to the developers for creating this engaging game

Thanks for the kind words.

1.  Every events report contains a line in the section reporting on glory listing how many turns remaining in the scenario.  We don't list these anymore because it is variable -- you can choose to modify the length of the scenario.

2.  There is no overlay as such for this.  I'm not sure what the best way to show this might be as there are so many different minor powers.  Perhaps we could give the larger sized minor powers unique colors (other than the various shades of gray that minor powers have now).  So Bavaria could be a light blue; Vatican could be gold; and so forth.  We wouldn't even need to change the code to do this, as the minor power color values are specified in the scenario files.

Thanks Eric.

Your colour coding suggestion would certainly be helpful.

I forgot to mention that the map artwork and additional provinces are great improvements over both COG and FOF

I've experimented with this, and I think it doesn't look too bad if we keep the minor colors fairly subdued to keep them differentiated from the major powers.  It doesn't help identify provinces once a power becomes a protectorate however.

I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, um, some people out there in our nation don't have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq and everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uh, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, should help South Africa and should help Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future.
