Playing WAW (enhanced version) Axis versus the rest.

Am happily crushing Europe at a friendly slowly pace. Made the mistake of attacking Yugoslavia in order to get my fingers on Greece. So many partisans, one would think the countryside should be devoid of inhabitants by now, keeping my troops too busy down there so I put Operation Red on hold. Attack Russia spring 42.Building a mighty Army to smash the Reds ASAP.

The French speak German by now, the summer cruises in the Med are doing quite well and the Atlantic seems to be empty of Allied shipping.


The Problem:

Spring has arrived. Play the Eastern Attack card. Troops can not cross the border. Eng units can't build bridges into enemy terrain. Tanks won't move.Can't fire Art at border guards.
The Action card is gone, played.
Move onto Strat map, click on Soviet Union and see we are at peace with them.

When I played the card, normally a new window opens teling me of results, eg Soviet fight at less % I get 100% fight bonus, this did not happen.
Instead the attack spain card moved into the play position.

Replayed the turn again, as I had just saved the game, same result.
Tried on a diff computer, but same problem.

Any Ideas???

is this an engine or a scenario issue?

feels like you should contact the designer of the scenario.

No Idea.
Opened up the game again (game saved earlier) and declared war on Soviet Union in autumn 41 works. But in Spring 42 does not work.
Could that be the problem?

Do you know exactly which version you're playing?
Wondering if the changed Spain card is causing some kind of conflict.
Sounds like somewhere in there I've got an extra change diplomacy between GE & SU.
Doesn't sound like a game issue, but a scenario bug to me.
I'll check into it and see if I can reproduce same results.

Dont know if this helps but I have played through a couple of versions of the beta game and had the same problem. Eatern Blitz card worked fine until 1942 when either the Spain card was played, nothing happened or in version G I seem to get the minor axis countries join me (most of whom were already work hard at partisan control anyway!). Still Finland is a nice place. No good at scripts myself but hopefully this should help narrow it down.

Have just downloaded version J. Is this fixed in that one by the way?

I'm a little unclear about what's happening. 2 separate issues?
Eastern Blitz didn't work if played after Spain card played?
Remember in 1942, if SU is forward deployed, no combat benefit to GE, just +50PP.
Minor Axis are supposed to all join once Eastern Blitz card is played.
Did Spain card not put you at war with Spain?
A few more details would help narrow it down.

Thanks for fast response. In each case war wasn't declared. Instead the text for the other card came up as if the wrong event was being triggered. In the latest version I had issues with (g) then it triggered the same result/text etc as the Pressure Axis Allies card which obviously has left your hand by April 42 anyway. Whether it is the scripting re post 41 in the Eastern Blitz card or whether some of the card shuffling causes problems (leaving the computer thinking you have different cards to those you do I don't know). I had already used the war on spain card if it helps. Happy to send saved game if it helps.
