Danish Invasion?

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

Danish Invasion?

Post by barbarossa2 »

I am currently playing Sweden in a PBEM.

Can anyone help explain to me why there would be Danish infantry/armies in my country in this situation?

I have checked, and the diplomatic status shows the Danes are okay with me and we are certainly not in a state of war.

IIRC minor powers can violate your territory without consequence, just as you can violate theirs.  Eric?

Yes, minor countries can move through your territory.  If you don't like it, you can DOW on them.  The only alternative would be to allow crossing agreements and the like between major powers and all the minor powers, and we just decided this would be a lot of work and added complexity for a relatively minor aspect of game play.

Here is a good example of how PBEM policies work since you were asking in the other thread.  If somebody had Aggression towards you checked (say France) and you had Aggression towards France checked as well, and you DOW Denmark,  France would make Denmark a Protectorate, take control of its fleets and its armies and issue an ultimatum to you.  Since you had Aggression checked you would then be at war with France.

Well, I am friendly with Denmark. But I have to admit, it does bother me. But it isn't worth a DoW at this point.

In my opinion, I would highly recommend allowing players to make and accept treaties with minor nations, since it seems you have all of the brains for this kind of stuff programmed into your code already anyway (attitudes of individual countries, etc.). However, make it add it as an OPTION that can be chosen at the beginning of the scenario (just like with difficulty level).

Maybe until we can allow this with treaties I would consider eliminating this behavior. Or?

Thanks for the explanation.

I think it would also be useful to negotiate this kind of a treaty (and more) with a minor, because I may want to move my armies through northern Italy, but it might not be worth pissing off every minor from Genoa to Venice to get to Austria. If I could offer treaties, then I would know I am relatively welcome.

However, scratch what I said above. I think the behavior should stay in. :)

By the way, I say CoG:EE 9/10.

But I am already busy compiling a list of things I would like to see for CoG:EE2! :)
