Also look for Ulm Campaign (24-25 Oct 1805)

(This module is available now at Napoleonic Archive but give us a week or so to add some more upgraded maps and other content.)

We've sharpened up the graphics so that the game is actually quite playable at the smaller 3d zoom levels, and the new maps are a joy to play on:

This was really a fun project to work on. I realize there is not much draw for these BG games anymore, but I had a blast playtesting my own scenarios, which is rare. This style of warfare was a great distraction from WW2 for me; I hope you who still play this have as much fun as I did.

cheers,

Keep it up, and there will be.

I swear, so many times I'm tempted to forgot all other computer games and just focus on the Tiller BGS (and HPS) titles for the rest of my gaming days. There's much life in this game engine yet!

Wargaming heaven!!

Wow this is great news!!

There's plenty of life left in these games... and your work is giving it even more.

Many thanks for doing these add-ons

Thanks,

I'm just the new guy on an experienced Team that's been chugging away on the new add-ons for several months. The Ulm Campaign is being done by the team administrator and looks to be quite the contest.

Invasion of Prussia is finishing up beta testing and will be uploaded to the administrator next week for his review.

This is so stunning to look at. I much prefer this style of map contour (over the BGS orginal style). (Too bad HPS doesn't offer 3D graphics--especially the units!!--as gorgeous as these.)

How difficult is it to install and get working these new Jena-Auerstadt & Ulm scenarios?

Please see my other post in the "ACW add-on battles" thread.

Indeed, very easy, and yes, it only took a few minutes.

And yes (from the HOW TO INSTALL):
Always amazes me, and all these battles for FREE!

Amazing! [X(]

(I hope that Luciano B's ACW scenarios, and other newer BGS ACW scenarios, are similarly easy to install.)

Between Matrix BGS and the HPS games (ACW, Napoleon), these are literally life-long dreams come true. (I have been playing wargames for ~47 years and hope to play them for many more years to come. Over the years, I have many, many times day-dreamed about being able to game all or nearly all ACW and Napoleonic battles, large and small, in hex-based renditions.) [:D]

OMG, that settles it! I am now a raving Tiller fanboy and will likely just play John Tiller games (Matrix' JTBGS & JTCS, and the various HPS titles) exclusively from now on.

Thanks so much! [&o] [&o] [&o]

berto, I submitted the "Invasion of Prussia" module last week to the administrators but it has not been uploaded to the Archives yet (actually, I havn't hered boo from them all week [&:].) These will feature totally re-worked graphics and scenarios including AI for both sides.

The new maps are available with the old Jena/Auerstatd add ons though. There was pitifully minor AI scripting and you will probably be playing with green bases for the prussians...

I very much look forward to the "Invasion of Prussia" scenarios.

Weak or non-existent AI? Really don't care. All so-called AI disappoints me. (PBEM? Care even less. Don't ask.) I'm fully prepared to play against myself hot-seat solitaire, as I've done for 99+% of my gaming over the years.

Although installation proved to be easy, still...

It would be great if Matrix would assemble a developer/modder team and incorporate your work, Luciano B's work, the work of other designers/modders at the Napoleonic Archive into the core game packages, else sell them as fully-supported and tested, no-brainer to install expansion packs. I'd buy them in an instant!

Keep up the good work!! [8D]

Yes John Tiller is a God....the reason we are all here.....I worship at his altar for several hours every night.

Berto : actually PBEM is great....it's not the feature, it's most likely a case of finding a decent opponent. By decent I mean one with a good degree of skill; doesn't cheat; and does not behave in a peculiar manner. Some of mine have been......odd.

Sorry, but I have many reasons to dislike PBEM, among them:

I don't like the disconnectedness, the stop-and-go nature of PBEM. When I'm in the mood to play wargames, I want to devote hours on end or an entire day or weekend to playing them. Without break. If I go too long between turns, as with PBEM, I forget details, and it destroys the immersiveness.

Just one of many reasons I have for disliking PBEM.

Anyway, we agree that John Tiller is a gaming god. For me, he fires on all cylinders. [:)]
