Modder's Guide Posted!

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

Just curious since the document is in a members only place, what kind of things within the game can actually be modded? Scenarios, graphics, etc. Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere.

I will have to take a look at this, although with my schedule there is no way I would ever be able to make a mod, maybe I could help some people test some mods out.

As one who Mods games to fit my personal tastes, let me highly recommend this Guide.

There are many, many things you can Mod - too many to name, but things like city siege values, Generals (their abilities, entry dates, add more Generals, etc), Upgrades (including which Upgrades the AI chooses for AI Nations), Container values (how many Divisions a Container will hold, etc), supply costs, Fleets, unit locations, unit strengths, and on and on.

Again, highly recommended. Great job bjmorgan!

Yea... I've had a ball modding this and FoF for some time.  I'll have to check the new docs out to see if I've missed anything... [:)]

This is one of the reasons I love this game so much.  It's every easy to modify a lot of things.  Especially to make your own scenarios.

Please, if anybody has comments, suggestions, or corrections, let me know.  I'm sure there's a lot wrong with it, but at least you've got something to play around with now.

Have fun (I hope).

1 - Is it possible to write your own historical events? That was one thing I loved about EU2.

2 - There was discussion back in COG there were deathdate triggers for generals, but it was never implemented. What's the situation in COGEE? Bernadotte should defect to Sweden after 1809, Moreau should be exiled (both should happen only if Napoleon is in power - though I don't know whether the game engine has these kinds of triggers).

You can not add event as their effects are hard coded.

The deathdate variable has not been implemented as far as I know.

I am very bad about not registering.  I would love the modders guide.. to register will I just need my CD key?  I am sure I can dig it out of the registry hive, and I could probably find the slip of paper I wrote it on when I downloaded it.  I ashamedly admit I buy physical + DL because I can put the Physical up (after I get the manual out) and always have the Key at hand, but I haven't gotten my physical shipment yet (not complaining I knew then and Know now the physical is delayed and I am fine with that).

So will I need to just be able to type in my CD key to get this registered and get ahold of the Modders Manual?

I think so.

You can however mod the existing Events to an extent, such as changing their dates of influence or more importantly, changing the percent chance of them happening. An example - mod the Austrian "Stadion" Military Reform Event to always happen at 100%, as opposed the current 50/50 chance.

There is a Bernadotte Event; he can become a Swedeish General in 1810, if memory serves.

Yes, but the "He'll die on or about June 1814" was never implemented.

How is the expulsion of the French from Spain handled? Presumably you would have to have some events about Joseph being kicked off his throne and Ferdinand taking over?

Are there any plans by the devs to introduce more events in future patches?
