Forager Promotion

Post by Anthropoid »

Question about the forager promotion: in FoF I seem to recall the rules stating pretty clearly and explicitly that the promotion benefits all the units inside the container.

Is this also true of COGEE?

No, it is not.  Only the unit itself is free from attrition.

Foraging/supply doesn't work the same way in FoF as it does here.  Are you maybe thinking of the 'Medical' attribute?

Bummer. So I need to have a whole Corps of Divisions with Forager in order to have a good forager force . . .

If units are not in supply (e.g., with a depot or in a city, they will automatically try to forage.  So, I'm not sure what the question is.
Occasionally, and randomly, problems and solutions collide. The probability of these collisions is inversely related to the number of committees working on the solutions. -- Me.

So the benefit of the forager promotion is only when you have a unit that is in excess of the forger allowance for a province?

Correct.  I don't use it much but when I do I tend to put it on units that don't replace very quickly like guards.  That way if the depot gets zapped and run into a bad weather province, my most important units don't get decimated.

So if I got a 100K man army, and the forager allowances in the provinces I'm operating tend to hover in the 50K to 60K ballpark, then (1) it would be worthhile for me to have 40 to 60K of units in that 100K man army with the forager promotion. And (2) in particular among units like Cav, Arty, and Guards that are slower to replenish with replacements?
