What can I do with my jeep??

I know this is a stupid , newbie question but can a jeep tow small artillery pieces or 30mm cal AT guns or can they only carry soldiers? And, roughly how many soldiers can they carry?

Depending on the Nation then on the class of the jeep, they have varying capabilities.

Typically a jeep will haul a small gun, that is a gun with up to 5/6 men in the crew.
These crews all went to University where they learned to cram as many as possible into a small car, therefore 6 ride with comfort in the jeep

Scout jeeps can usually carry a recon squad of 4 men or 4 snipers or two recon teams, etc.

Jeeps that are armed typically have no room for passengers. Some jeeps are specifically designed for carrying in a glider.

read in the manual about lift/carry capacity vs carry cost then check in the encyclopedia for the various models of jeeps and AT guns, etc.

different jeep models have capacities of either 4 soldiers up to 106 = most AT gun or six soldiers. in short, some jeeps can drag some AT guns, and some jeeps, like 60mm mortar jeeps can carry nothing at all besides the mortar they come with.

you can also right click on the unit to see its info.

No there are no stupid questions!
If you are playing with them in the Pacific use them to haul around your 37mm AT guns.
The other best use for jeeps (again I am talking American) is the .50 cal. equiped scout jeep. I love zipping around small farming communities and hamlets spraying anything that moves!

Yep, the 50cal Jeep is a great little infantry harrasser. Just gotta keep your range.

I'm in the middle of PBEM where my opponent is beating at my flank. I just rapidly reinforced with four 3in AT guns pulled around by M29 Weasels from half way down the map. They're now racking up more kills than the ill-fated armor did - and he can't SEE them!!.

When you consider the combined overland speed and the punch (and spotting difficulty) of a 37mm or 57mm AT gun pulled by a jeep, you might start reconsidering your armor forces. :rolleyes:

Way to go Capt.! Now that is just what I was geting at!
Learning to use the little guys correctly is the hardest part I think most folks face. And you are correct - keeping the range is the bigest key.
I think I watched to much Combat and Rat Patrol when I was growing up. I say that because I quickly learned that jeeps are not as hardy as AVF's real quick when I first started war gaming!
