CD 2 install problem

Post by Jim D Burns »

I just got my physical shipment of Crown of Glory, and CD 2 is messed up. It will not install using the default "place CD 2 in drive D:" configuration. The file was burned onto the CD still in a folder called cdfiles, so to get it to install, you have to type in D:\cdfiles where it prompts you for drive D: only.

Then you have to change it back for CD 3.

Hi Erik,

No need to investigate anything, I got the game installed fine. I just figured other less PC savy folks would want to know how I got the install to work, thus my post.

Thanks,

Jim

I had the same problem - discovered that one had to open the folder on the cd to access and click on the actual file.

Several other problems which I hope someone can advise about :-

1. Clicked for "Detailed Naval Battle" and following Error message came up -
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Lirary Assertion failed!
Program: f:\Crownof Glory\CrownofGloryII.exe
File : C:\Projects|COG2Platoz|Source\game.cpp Line4108
Expression : g<NoNations

Had a similar problem with another game but cannot recall the solution.

2. Conquered Batavia after successful seige, and tried to build militia in the two provinces (Friesland & Amsterdam ?)
but next turn when unit should have been built it showed zero turns to build, next turn showed -1 to build, next turn -
-2, etc. was this due to the provinces showing "unrest" ? (Had same problem a number of times when playing Turkey
and Russia in COG 1)

Just a FYI to all, the random sub-folder on CD2 was an error on DR's side. We've asked them to re-burn new CD #2s without the sub-folder and mail them out to all affected customers. It's my understanding that those replacement CDs will go out by the end of this week. While it's not a critical issue by any stretch, it's annoying and we'd like to make sure the boxed versions are as easy to install as possible. It's also been fixed going forward.

Regards,

- Erik
