Game progress??

I was just wondering how many folks out there have finished a full game start to finish? How long did it take you both in game time and IRL? Turns per day? AI or human opponent?

Presently 2/44, Big B 1.4. Still a competitive game although the Allies strength is going. Japanese still making gains in northern China taking Honan and Sian over the past few months. Allies have cleared the Marshalls (leaving heavily fortified Kwajalein and Maeolap to rot on the vine), have retaken all of Burma, and have landed on Timor. Kamikaze's have appeared in the last few weeks

Edit: game started mid-March 2008

PBEM, 11/15/44 and counting, it's taken almost 2 years of Real Life Time. That's the furthest.

I only played one AI game, and that ended with Auto-Victory 1/1/44

I am in March of 43 with a PBEM opponent. We started June of 2009 and usually get two turns a day. Unless something drastic happens to one of us, I expect the game to go to the finish.

Played through two Big B's.  Both ended with a point victory in January, 1945.  Each took about 8 months out of my wife's life.

All games are a lightly modded Vanilla (Ventura's get extra range, USN Blimps as a variety of Patrol Aircraft, B-32's, P-80's, Bearcats, C-82 Packets available in 1945/46, C-54 available earlier, more US cruisers & carriers in late 1945 reinforcement queue, including USS Midway, lots of AR's added to Allied OOB to cover the massive floating drydock assets that the US deployed. initial US divisions in Philippines and Hawaii are Springfield armed, but mainland troops and improved US Army squads immediately available in 12/41 with M1 Garand firepower for reinforcements, Lahaina Roads an excellent potential harbor, Central Pacific atolls with large lagoons get better potential port ratings)

One Allies vs. Japanese AI, Autovictory in late 1943, played on to early 1944 just for kicks about 8 months IRL.
One Japanese vs. Allied AI, Called in late 1942 after conquering China and India and sinking an awful lot of the USN, about 3+ months IRL.
Current game is only one month old IRL, March, 1942 and plan to flip - control the Japanese until July to September, 1942 and have an autovictory in hand, then switch to Allied player and grind it out as long as it takes. That way I get the best of both worlds as far as headlong offense goes. I think the Japanese will hold north China, historical line + Port Moresby from Burma to the Solomons, and have Baker and Hawaiian Islands in the Central Pacific.  The Rising Sun flies from the old fort at Lahaina, but Pearl is still holding out.

I've played thru the stock campaign game as the allies twice vs AI, and I'm into march-43 my third time around. First two games took about 3 years total to finish.. This is my last game vs the AI, I figure I've rode that horse to death!  Will go pbem sometime after AE comes out. I'm probably just an average player at best, but very patient and like to finish what I start. So hopefully I can find an opponent to go the distance when the time comes.

Paul Layne and I played through March 1945 and it took two years.

In our recently concluded Forlorn Hopes Campaign, Dan and I played right to the edge of 1945 in roughly 16 months of time.

Most impressive, guys.  I'm in a good pbem, BigB and getting ready to grind my way towards Japan as Allies.  We're at the tail end of '43 and it has taken us I think a good year and a half.  Typically get one turn a day, but every now and then I get a trip and am sitting in a hotel all day.  What to do, what to do....

Prior to this I had some aborted games...a couple I threw the towel in on because the game just wasn't clicking and I had some life issues going on.  One game I toyed with Von Beanie and he whipped me so bad I've had bad dreams ever since.  I raised the white flag in that one by I think May '42 because he had taken every flipping island in the Pacific right down to the Societies.  I'm holding my own on my current one, though my opponent, Japan, is highly skilled which is making for a great game.

I played a full campaign as Allies versus AI;
took me 8 month of real life. Ended dec 44 by autovictory.
I had a break of 15 days in the middle of the process because i was bored at this time.
Usually 2 turns a days, and sometime 6 or 7 a days on week end, but because i hadn't to wait for a turn from the AI !

It will certainly took me more time if a go to a PBEM, as i would like to think about each turn, AND that i have less free time by now.

My longest, and current, PBEM is in April, 1942.  We're playing at a very slow pace, around 16 months RL, so about 1 turn every 4 days on average.  There were a couple of long breaks in there, so when we're humming along, it's usually about 1 turn every 2-3 days.  I don't know if we'll ever finish this game, but we're having fun.

I think whenever I start another PBEM game, likely not until after AE is out for a bit, I'll give serious consideration to playing "2 day turns".  It would be nice to see things move along a little quicker, even if I usually can't fit too many turns into a RL week.
