Captured Units Detailed Battle

Why in detailed battle does it show the white flag on 6 brigades and then the report only shows 2 brigades captured?

The brigades were probably split brigades.
To capture a split brigade, and have it show up as 'surrendered' in the combat report, you have to capture both halves.
Can be quite tricky sometimes.
But don't worry, the men you captured will still be missing from the enemy brigade - so it will be seriously depleted.
