no flee?

Post by dillonkbase »

i recently got WaR, and although its been several years since i last played a cc game,(a bridge too far) i remember being able to choose when to flee, or retreat, which can be the right choice in a campaign, where did this feature go and why? commanders font get to fight a battle on their own terms, I have to sacrifice my infantry to the wolves if all my anti tank assets are destroyed and 3 panzer are roaming the map? I understand that with 30 min time lines enabled this isn't an issue but i waited 3 hrs for someone to attack my out of ammo inf, or move into LOS for my last 3 in gun, which was guarding the center VL. I was ready to fight another day but instead i just pressed escape and get to fight the same day again, is that more realistic?

You have your chance to move to safety on the "Movement" turn.

if you don't take this opportunity and choose to fight then so be it you are committed to battle and must suffer the consequences.

As to where and why... you will have to email Atomic games as they had the decisions to make regarding these features way back when.

so at some point they changed their mind reguarding whether you can flee or surrender mid battle to save your men, and your time?

and of course i offered a truce, i was getting my but kicked, but after i pulled my men back from the very front line the germans never persued, and i certainly wasn't going to attack them

They probably had high casualties as well and considered an attack unlikely to succeed.

put the timer on.
