SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

question, downloaded sounds,now what

Post by SSgt Matt »

I downloaded the new MG 34/42 sounds. What do I do next? do I unzip it in the spwaw file or what?

I know I am full of questions, but what is the mega campaign?

thanks

Don't know about the sounds but I bought the Lost Victories mega-campaign and have been mightily pleased.

A mega-campaign has you role-play a Battalion/Kampfgruppe leader in a connected series of scenarios with a core group. If you get a Moderate Victory(MV), you'll receive a different debriefing than if you receive a Decisive Victory. As well there's loads of documents and pictures to look at and they are all of that area and time period. It was quite chilling to read Hitler's "justification" for invading Russia.
And one of the the true high-lights was that usually at each mission there's a choice you can make: some smaller, others very big. For example you can be given the choice of extra artillery or engineers or extra mines. Or even better you have a choice of two scenarios. The first is that you strike quickly with your troops from the last battle(re-supplied + re-inforced) but some have to be brought over a pontoon bridge or you can wait 2 hours and get more organized with extra units as well. But the enemy will be better organized with extra units as well. Your choice!

The sounds you put in the snd folder. As for the mega-campaigns they are just as the previous gent said. :)

How do I do it?

Post by SSgt Matt »

Do I unzip in the sound folder or do I move the unzipped files to the folder? Do I delete the older ones? or do they self adjust?

Thanks

The computer illiterate thanks you

Fallschirmjager is correct if you unzip into the snd folder it will ask for an overwrite conformation, just select yes to all.

I'm probably too late in posting this, but its a good idea to create a backup folder and copy any sounds you change to it (insert Boy Scout motto here).

And for completeness I will add that one of the many updates mistakenly created a nested snd folder within the snd folder.

If you have this recursive folder, simply move all of its .wav files into the first snd folder under the Steel Panthers World At War folder.

That should be as clear as mud now...
