Harpoon 3 on Vista64

Post by makobyte »

I have a Vista64 computer with 8GB memory, I am curious if anyone has had success running Harpoon 3 ANW using a 64bit system.
I played every version of Harpoon (tabletop and computer) until I heard that Three-Sixty stopped supporting Harpoon 3 and that Harpoon 4 was canceled.
I just recently discovered this site and would be interested in playing Harpoon 3 ANW as well are rejoining the community.
My concern is that a large percentage of the games that I own cannot be played on my 64bit system so before I make a investment into Harpoon III ANW I would like to know if anyone is successfully playing on a full 64bit system.
A note: This system is optimized for 64bit processing for graphic (3d modeling) development.
Note #2: I have asked the developers and have not received a response; I recently found the forums so I am asking the playerbase if anyone has either had issues or is presently using a 64bit system.

Thank you.

Mako.

Works fine on Vista 64 (I run it there myself) and has been covered a number of times on this forum already [;)] but I sure can't find any of them quickly.

Awesome! I will get my order in post haste then.
After losing most of my games when I upgraded, you can understand why I am hesitant to put down money on a game that might now work. [;)]
But with 4 stars I know you won't steer me wrong. [:D]

Ok, I got it working...
Dumb question, how do I improve the resolution?  My monitor is 1920x1200 and the game is tiny box in the middle.
Is there a way to get it to run at higher resolution?

Never mind! I found it!

Welcome aboard, shipmate.  Glad to know that it will work for you on Vista 64.   [8D]

Don't forget to load and install the PlayersDB for the least number of problems.

Harpoon ANW users can get the

Thank you! [&o]
I thought Harpoon III died after I could not play it anymore on my Window XP computer.
I had the old Harpoon III that was a update to the Harpoon II (required the Harpoon II disks to load).
I am very happy that Harpoon survived and thrived with the loss of Harpoon IV. [:D]
I was really looking forward to that program so much so that I had it on preorder for 3 years. [:'(]
I have been out of the Sim community for a while, my last sim I worked on was Falcon 4, with the F4UT and Falcon Gold.
I guess the betrayal and loss of trust broke my confidence in at least the Flight Sim community.
It is good to see that the Naval Sim community is still thriving. [:)]

I don't know why you had problems with Harpoon3 and XP.  I run it on XP and it is fine.

There are a number of others who still play H3, too.  A version of the PlayersDB is maintained for those H3 users.  If you still own your H3 program, you can compare and see how differently H3 runs from ANW.  In some cases, it is pretty drastic.
