Reforming cavalry

Post by moose1999 »

I'd like to make it easier for my cavalry units to return to column formation after being disordered by a charge, but I can't figure out if there's anything I can do.

Does anybody know if the upgrade "Cavalry Organisation" helps with this?
Or the unit ability "Organized"?

The question really is what determines the chances of cavalry to return to formation after a charge - is it a morale check (in which instance the two possibiities mentioned above would help) or is it something else...?

Both of those should help.  Cavalry organization would probably be the better choice, applying a smaller morale bonus for the purposes of formation changes but it would be army wide. That might not be true if you have a very small military with only a handful of cavalry units (GB or Sweden for example). Im not sure what the cost is per unit to just buy the unit ability.

I think Organized unit ability is +2 morale and Cavalry organization doctrine is +33% morale, both only for purposes of changing formation.

Good point about having a small cavalry force.
I don't have that much cavalry, so maybe using a full upgrade would be a waste.
I think I'll give them some "Organized" abilities and then save the upgrade for something more powerfull.
