Maybe not doable in PS, but player trades for cash were common in the reserve clause era. This was mentioned in my wishlist for DDSBB.

The most infamous historical example is the Red Sox selling Babe Ruth's contract to the Yankees for $100,000. Sorry, Shaun, but it had to be mentioned.
