Reinforcing an Isolated Area

Post by Capt Cliff »

I don't know if this is the place for this but it is a place to start.

I am in an e-mail game as the Union. I catured both Elizabeth City and New Bern early on. At one point the units in Betty City got activated and I moved to Raleigh and captured that too, I did back fill with a corp into Betty City. But the CSA attacked Betty City and captured it, isolating my units in Raliegh. I quickly moved two corp to New Bern but on the next turn he attacked me at Raliegh. Hang on I am getting to my point. Well in New Bern two corps got activated, Hooker with 3 MP and Hancock with 5 mp. During the reaction phase I was able to reinforce Raliegh with Hancock from New Bern!!!! I got green arrows moving up the coast and then up the Roanoke river, a minor river. I am perplexed at why I was able to do this!!?? I did have transports in the sea area but they are ocean transports moving up a minor river??? Is this right or as it was intended?? I have the saved game if Admin wants a copy.

BTW, Hancock saved the day! Not a good turn for the CSA player!

You found a very interesting map oddity. You are allowed to reaction move over transports at sea and in major rivers. Somehow, the code thought that the transport in area AC8 was separated from Raleigh by a minor river which it allowed you to cross (perhaps at some movement cost). It no doubt cost you a lot of MPs to make the move. It was not our intention to allow this kind of move, but unless you set up a house rule to keep from doing it, it looks like the computer is going to allow it.
All understanding comes after the fact.

I thought it was weird is why I asked. I assumed that the transports in the sea area allow the tactical movement, all green arrows. Plus the Roanoke River is a minor river at that, according to the map! The next patch might want to fix this. The link between that sea area and Raleigh really isn't there.
