Below are two pictures from a game between the Boston Yanks and Philadelphia Eagles of my 1948 NFL for MaxFB. The Yanks and Eagles came into the game with 0-3 and 1-2 records respectively. Neither team was "burning up" the eastern division of the NFL. The Yanks upset the Eagles in Philly 17-10 to improve their record to 1-3. The odd thing about the Eagles is that they have shown a propensity for building a lead and blowing it in home games. They beat the Steelers in game one by 28-24 after building and blowing a 21-0 lead. They lost to the Colts 31-20 after building and blowing a 17-0 lead. They lost to the Yanks 17-10 after building and blowing a 10-0 lead. In their only road game so far they were blown out by the New York Giants 38-7. I know that the game runs on math equations and calculations and so forth and that there is no human personality involved, BUT in this case it's almost like there is a team persona that kicks in when the Eagles build a lead. It's almost like they jump on a team and then quit. The offense just dies in the 2nd half of a game. In the 1st half against Pittsburgh, the Eagles scored 21 points. In the 2nd half, they scored 7. In the 1st half against Baltimore they scored 17 points; in the 2nd half they scored 3. In the 1st half against Boston they scored 10 points; in the 2nd half 0.

The pictures show Boston's Johnny Butler looking for a receiver and then the catch by Frank Seno for a 6 yd TD pass. This was the winning score for Boston.
