Video Aspect Ratio

Just got new moniter. 23" wide screen. All my other games made the switch just fine ,except for starshatter tgs. The game runs just fine. My problem is that the planets ships etc, are all flattend. Planets look like giant eggs. Is there a way to fix this? Can this game run in 16 x 9 aspect ratio? My moniter is running at 1920x1080. I have the game running at it's highest resolution & largest map size.
