Your Favorite Historical Era?

With the influx of new players (welcome aboard, guys!), I thought I'd pose this question. I admit to being allured by the Brooklyn mystique, a time from say 1939-1957 which has been immortalized and somewhat mythologized by books like "The Boys of Summer". Everyone knows the names of these legends, but in PS I can bring them back: Robinson, Campanella, Reiser, Erskine, Reese, Walker, Camilli, Casey, Snider, Newcombe et al.

I was born in 1957, but if I could go back in time, I'd be in the bleachers at Ebbets Field, watching the game while being entertained by the Dodgers' Sym-Phony and cheering when uber-fan Hilda Chester would ring her infamous cowbell.

For me, while I was being raised in a small town in Sudbury, MA, not too far from where I lived was the fame Babe Ruth and his wife that had a house there ... That ignited my interests of the old ball players of Dead-Ball era, onward to the roaring Yankees into the Golden Age(from 1947 - 1960's) ... While that being said, My father took me to the legend of Fenway Park where they host The Cardinals in the World Series in 1967 of the Sixth Game - the Score was 8-4 - seeing back to back homeruns by Yaz and Reggie Smith as well as Rico Petrocelli all in the same 4th inning - Also, Lou Brock has set a record of seven stolen bases in that series ... That was the Magical Season that has forever lifted me into the World of Baseball ... Actually, I love most era with the acception of the seventies in which I had walk away from baseball when the great Carlton Fisk, Freddie Lynn and Rick Burleson walk away for a lucrative contract of million of dollars ... However, there was a magical rookie season in Detroit that goes by the name of Mark "The Bird" Frdrych ...

Baseball is magical ...

I like the years from 1901 - 1970. Players in those years just intrique me. I like stats and I try to sim those years with some alterations to see who would be the new HR king, SB king, ERA king, etc.  I actually studied, if you will, the early years when i was a kid and even now.

That's a small world indeed ... I used to every other weekend go canoeing down that river going almost as far up near Boston ...

I remember that you guys have always had a good Football and Wrestling teams as well as Soccer ... but we always pretty much have an edge in Basketball ...

Do they still have all those hangouts like Copper Kettle, Irish Taverns, Monticello, Timothys ... all along RT 9
