P-51B upgrade problem

Post by RUPD3658 »

I searched and found that in 2006 Speedy discovered that no Allied plane upgraded to P-51B and none arrived as reinforcements. Did this ever get fixed?

I am producing them now but can seem to find any way to use them.

I followed Speedy's AAR quite closely and I don't ever recall him or anyone else ever stating that in stock, the P-51B ever became useable.

You should get some as they build at 30/mth after 3/44.

I cant see any units equipped with them or any types which upgrade to them.

Maybe they are available with PDU on.

Joe Baugher has
The Merlin-powered Mustang entered service in the China-Burma-India (CBI) theatre in September 1943. These aircraft were assigned to the 23rd and 51st Fighter Groups of the 5th Air Force. Early in 1944, the 311th Fighter Group of the 10th Air Force saw action in Burma with its Mustangs, flying in support of airborne troops attacking Japanese lines of communication. The top Mustang ace of the CBI theatre was Major John C. "Pappy" Herbst, with 18 kills.

Makes the Vanilla arrival of 3/44 a bit late.

Vanilla has the 311th arrive 15/9/43 with the A-36A Apache (which s/be A36A Mustang). 23rd(nee AVG) & 51st are at start units.

fix = you must designate at least one reinforcement airgroup to be equipped with the missing plane type. In this case, P-51B

That is correct. You have to modify the database. I don't see this as an issue as long as you explain to a prospect PBEM partner that the only thing changed in the scenario is giving one airgroup P51B's in order to allow it's use in the game.

51-B is useless as a third nipple in stock. Not to mention the 8.5 million boomerangs you will have accumulated by 1945. I sold most of mine to the Bosnian republic. Word is they plan on removing the wings and using them as cars......

Same situation for P-39Q in stock? I can't find anything that upgrades to them.

Aw, shucks, cousin. If you are going to modify the database, just cut the P-51B into the P-40 upgrade line. Then prepare to listen to howling from the East...
