Help! Denmark 1792

Post by evwalt »

I was testing strategies as Denmark in 1792. I have discovered that the Danes can NOT besiege any city, even after meeting all other requirements (ie. no move and no enemy units present).

Is anyone else getting the same problem? I wanted to ask before posting this in the tech support forum. (A quick DOW on Mecklenburg followed by a march in would test it quickly).

Had a thought and went back and checked to make sure I had a mininum of 1/2 the defenders seige value.

City had 5 Guns (+5) and approximately 10k defenders (+3).

Danes had 40k attackers (+4) and 22 ships (+2).

According to the manual, this means Denmark should have been able to beseige the city (ie. 6 Attk to 8 Def)

If you fail a siege attempt roll no message is displayed.  This is probably whats happening.

I would like a message that said a siege was attempted but failed personally, but what can you do.

Playing one of the big powers, I have never noticed that you don't get a report if you fail the roll.

I bet that is the problem. The Danes certainly don't compare to the French!

Yeah, Sometime when you have smaller nations you try sieges with around 30-40k troops...

Let's just say dependaing on the guns and the amount of troops in you can be frustrated for a LONG WHILE!
