New COGEE Player

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

New COGEE Player

Post by punkrockgrenadier »

Just wanted to say how excited I am to find this game. I was really debating whether to buy Empire:Total War as I am a longtime fan since the original Shogun game. But the technical and AI issues I have seen on the TE forums turned me off. I saw someone mention this game on one of the forums at TWCenter and now I will be buying COG: EE instead!

Welcome to this kick a** game AND not least to these forums. Do not be anxious about asking questions, the ppl here at the matrixgames forums are (99%) a great bunch!

Good choice. I own both games and I can say that, apart from the graphics, CoGEE is the much better game.

COG:EE is the way games should be: balanced, engrossing, thought-provoking, compelling. Not having played some of the 'competitor' titles, I can only speculate, but sadly it seems some game companies (e.g., the Civilization series which I have played extensively) perceived their bread will be better buttered if they shift their product lines more toward the lines of incredibly high-end graphics-fest with inadequate attention to balance, and strategic though, much less anything that will really capture a serious strategy gamers attention for more than a couple sessions.

I agree. PBEM is the way to go and I have only played 1 turn!

Get used to Advanced Economy first. I strongly recommend reading the Advanced Economy guide (+ textiles supplement). Makes it fairly easly.

Welcome. :)

Yeah. PBEM is about the only way I play after spending 2-3 weeks getting the hang of it in play vs. AI.

;) PBEM=Play by Email.

You play against up to 7 other players. Check out the opponents wanted section for games.

Great news. And also great news that people are starting to realize that there is an alternative to that game with the massive advertising budget.

And what amazes me is how durable the pbem community is. Seems that we have a stable player base now. The longest pbem is now well into the 50's (turns) and still going strong...

Off course it is still going strong, think I would allow you guys to quit with French troops on Austrian soil? [:-]

Ditto on the welcome and pbem advice above!
