Addendum to Econ Guide

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

Addendum to Econ Guide

Post by morganbj »

Ok, gents, here is the Introduction to the Addendum to the Advanced Economy Guide.

It is a pdf file, so rename it before you attempt to open it.

Consider this a draft at this point. As I finish each of the individual resources, I may find it necessary to make changes to the introduction. I think these changes will be fairly minor or I wouldn't post this now.

The spreasheets that it refers to may be posted once they are all in final form if there is enough interest. That would give you the ability to do some "what if" analyses. You could also look for errors in my methodology so that I can correct things. I'm reasonably satisfied with my formulas, but I know that mistakes creep in.

Keep in mind that, other than seeing some small parts of the code, I don't know any more than any of you do. I'm just a playtester who likes to play with numbers. I undertook this project so that others who like numbers could increase their enjoyment of the game. I think the advanced economy has always gotten a bad rap, so I'm trying to show that it's really not so bad after all. In fact, I've always thought it was the best part of the game. The COGEE version is a tad bit more developed than COG, but the two are essentially the same.

I've said many times that COG and COGEE are NOT economic simulations, nor are they inended to be. The economics are just there to provide additional depth to the game to enhance player enjoyment. Perhaps this addendum will do that for a few of you.

Enjoy.

Occasionally, and randomly, problems and solutions collide. The probability of these collisions is inversely related to the number of committees working on the solutions. -- Me.
