can you explain?

Post by baseballman »

During the game play by play, I'll see an average beside the pitcher that should represent the batter, but it's not the batter's current average or season average. What is it? For example: "CC Sabathia pitches to Billy Butler (.200 0 HR 4 RBI)" But in my replay Butler is hitting .250 Is this just a bug? or am I missing something?

That can happen if you've ever had a crash during a managed game. In this the database doesn't get updated with the results of the lost game so you will start seeing inconsistencies. I would much prefer real time updates with no use of interim tables to avoid this situation as I'm someone that tends to get lots of crashes in this game.

Ignore that last post. As I looked over this again I realize I'm talking about displays in different places than you are. The PbP always shows the batter's average from the beginning of the game. It doesn't matter if he goes 4 for 4 during the game, each time he bats you will see in the text what his stats were coming into the game. They are static. However, the data next to the player's photo is current. I usually look at this to see how the batter's average has changed during the game, though it would just as fine with me if the PbP showed up to date information.

Ever figure out why it crashes for you? I've played for years and I think I've only had one or two, but that was so long ago I'm not even sure.

Not really sure what the technical cause of the crash is, but I do know what I'm doing when it happens. I'm usually viewing player cards during a game.
