In truth, it was a knock-off of the DC-3. The Japanese held a licence to built the Douglas DC-3, which was the base civilian aircraft. Just like the US, Japan militarized its DC-3s. In the US militarized DC-3s were the C-47 Skytrain, and in Japan it was the L2D Tabby.

Now depending on whether this was one small number of the American built DC-3s that were delivered before the war or one of the Japanese licence built versions, the engine could be a Pratt and Whitney SB3G, or any one of various Mitsubishi Kinsei engines.

The spinner looks Japnese to me (or I should say of Japanese design) so I will favor the Tabby over a DC-3, or a C-47 or a R4D or a Dakota. Also from little bit I can see of the engine they do not look like Pratt cylinder heads.

The Tabby also had extra windows along the side behind the pilot that neither the DC-3 or C-47 had.  Definitely a Tabby.

As noted above the extra windows are a dead give away, that is a Japanese Built Tabby.
