Well, guess this will be a AAR then

Post by Hard Sarge »

started up a new 39 Campaign, got Germany and Italy active (wanted to see how the other half lives, was planning on turning it over to the AI, but don't seem to work ?)

opening moves, as Germany, buy two Para Divs, weak but useful, they will be more useful down the road, but nice to have them out of the way, when you need your PP for other stuff

also pick up some Inf Divs for the West Front, the French like to play cat and mouse

opening moves in Poland is burning up my Airpower, and then try and make some holes in the line

losses at the end of the first week, kind of heavy and they hurt as most are from my airpower (I seem to be taken it on the chin so far)

one thing that is nice, the Polish had reacted totally different then in any of the other runs into Poland, so it is not stale and die in the wool stuff

Pockets are formed, or about to be, most Airpower was used for recon this week, I don't have to blown holes into the line, or wear down Heavy defended troops, so no need to wait them

Italy, not doing much, trying to figure out what to do with them, LOL going to take me a while to get to the French border !

okay time for the Paras, I killed off the Polish Air a while back, do some recon, to make sure there are no surprises in store for me, and then make my drops, nothing major, but they will complete the pocket

others areas is mop up and pocket cleaning

it is basicly all over, but the shouting, but lot more troops are going to need to die, before it is over

(attack plan needs work, Danzig needs to fall, and fall early, not the last thing to do !)

and this is what happens when you make a good pocket

the Poles tried to make a defence of Danzig, but couldn't form a line, so got toar apart, plus my seapower, makes it a easy battle, once it is ready to be joined

Losses for the campaign, while still a little on the heavy side, are much better then it were at the start !

shift two Panzer units and the two Para north, they will take Denmark

most of the rest of the Armor and a few In Korps, head south, want to hit Yugo before the winter sets in

everybody else but the garrison troops start the slow march to the West

the English have been in heavy action with the RAF, mainly running into a brick wall made up of 109s

the French, slipped across the Maggot line and picked off a Inf Div or two, but I was able to snap back, and trap them, then fell back and baited a trap, but the French wouldn't fall for it

made a major mistake in the north, put one of the Airborne onto a ship, instead of a Ju52 !

even worse, since I don't really know the naval side too well, I disbanded the transport instead of unloading it

so, costly mistake, lost a Airborne Div and a leader !

but learned some things about how Naval works (the HARD way)

buy another Airborne Div with my spoils from Poland

another mistake is made

flew in two Air Divs to the land/Island to the north of Germany

when it came time to pull out, I couldn't as they were out of supply ?, no supply line and no way to form one, couldn't fly out and couldn't Stat move, or ship supplies to them ??

ended up disbanding them, got 25 PP for the 2 of them

Denmark was a costly affair (had to buy a new AB unit and two AirDivs and lost a leader)

but it fell according to plans (if you count the fact, I didn't plan for all of the mistakes)

by the time Denmark falls, the South is ready to kick off

opening moves in Yugo, starting in Nov (kind of poor timing for beating the winter)

some armor to block and lock in place, while the rest bypasses and heads towards the real goal, and as you can see, Italy has joined in and wants a peace of the action

odd, we are both at war with Yugo, but we are not Allied

What do the "losses dealt" and "losses taken" numbers represent? The number of unit strength points? And what about the percentages? Are your losses that were dealt by the Poles very high, relatively speaking?

well, looking at the losses, it looks like the push to the south was started while the fight for Denmark was still going on, but not by much

my losses on the Western front are much heavier then in the past, my airforce seems to be hitting the ground alot more often, they still doing there job, but it is costing more (before the hotfix)

(I will say for losses, would like the losses to stay after the defeat of the enemy)

took a little longer then I would of liked (but like my troops had anything better to be doing)

the Cap will fall, and the last VP city on the coast will fall, Italy even picked up a couple of PP cities, so there effort was not in vane

Yugo falls, the Croats are in, my troops start boarding trains for the ride to the West, not much time for rest and refit, but..

most games tend to have any attack on the lowlands, to bring everybody into the war, so test to see what happens here, I DOW on Holland, and everybody sits back and watches

Holland don't stand a chance

Holland falls, and I am able to shift my troops around, and refit

then, a brain fart hits, and I make another mistake

the weather was good, my troops were in place, so I declared war on Belgum and Lux

so much for the PP paid for the planning, and I lose a Airborne Div I would of gotten if I had waited

but the opening was too good to pass up

(odd, as I am the type who likes to make a plan and then stick to it, not doing well in that reguard this game)

and now the French help out, and rush into Belgum to help out

but I push aside the troops defending what is needed to be defended and take out Belgum

my Armor on the coast will make mincemeat out of the French in there way, and my Armor in the middle has already broken though the line, the break out begins

the rush is on towards Paris, and to shore up the neck of the breakout, there is a huge pocket to be made in the north, and a strong pocket in the south, the BEF looks nasty
