Well I've been watching Matrix progress carefully and I love the way they are treating the games they are upgrading. Until now I was focused on the development of Pacific War's sequel...Until I had this idea of another game you can upgrade.
I am quite sure you know Divide-by-Zero development team. THey were working for SSI and they created a WWII battleship simulator, called "Fighting Steel". THe game was released with a lot of bugs and some unrealistic features...but the patches fixed most of the bugs and the sim itself was nice to see and quite fun regardless of some of the unrealistic problems (only noticeable for a BB nut, tho).
DBZ had planned an expansion for FS featuring aircraft, subs, land...and the French, Italiand and Russian navies. SOme what if ships (Montana, H-class, Vanguard), and of couse the Iowa and Alaska class.
Unfortunately, SSI quitted supporting FS development, so DBZ stopped FS gold. I remember the DBZ team said that SSI had no problem in them doing further development, but being a small team they had to focus on money-producing projects.
Then here is where Matrix games can go in. Fighting Steel has a lot of fans being a bit faulty as it is. If you manage to help DBZ releasing an upgrade as FS gold with some realism thing fixed, you'll have a winner.
If you want more information on Fighting Steer, go to www.fightingsteel.com. Neal Steven's SUBSIM review's page, http://www.deepdomain.olm.net/ssr/. has a quite good commentary on it. As you can see the game is VERY GOOD!!.
I hope you think, as me, that it could be good both gor DBZ, Matrix, and the players, that Fighting Steel Gold sees the light.
