NetPlay - MWIF over the Internet

Post by Shannon V. OKeets »

Here is the form for testing internet communications within the program. I have also made this a stand-alone program so you can resolve communication problems prior to actually starting a game. MWIF uses port 5950, though I will enable players to modify the INI file and use a different port if they so desire.

To use this form, you need to know the IP Address (a name or a set of numbers) for the person with whom you want to communicate. Then you type in an Outgoing Message and click on Send Message. The event log reports whether the message was received/acknowledged. Messages that the other person sends you are posted in the Received panel.

This is just for testing communications. For actual 'conversations' during a game a different form (Chat) will be used, which is more user friendly.

Ports number from 1939 to 1945 would have been cool [:D].
