Missing Aircraft Art List for Cathartes

Post by GaryChildress »

In the hopes that St. Cathartes is making a list and checking it twice I think it would be nice to put together a list of aircraft which we would like to see him make for WITP AE posterity.

I don't think there is anyone in the forums who can make plane sides as well as his and since he did the AE plane sides it would be awesome if he could create a kind of matching "add-on pack" of aircraft which didn't make the cut in AE.

These would be aircraft which existed at the time but didn't make it into AE or else experimental or prototype designs which could make it into "what-if" scenarios.

Other than the fact I didn't see it in there. I was looking for a T-6, even in DB, should I be looking under a different designation?

Another to add,

P-59B Airacomet
FW-200 Kondor.

Looking at a mod with a little more Axis cooperation...granted Ju-88 is only plane on my list that didn't actually have at least 1 example or blueprints in Japanese hands. There was apparantly a cancelled order for 44 HE-111s before the war, and the Condor prototype was kept in Germany after hostilities started there.

I think T is talking about the SNJ-3 Texan entry in the DB.

What about the He-100D? The IJN bought three He 100 D-0 to serve as pattern aircraft for series production (they were delivered in May 1940 and received the designation AXHei) as well as a full set of plans and production jigs in 1939. For some reason, the plans and jigs never arrived; the reason for that seems lost in the sands of time. Anyway, the IJN wanted to place that aircraft into production as soon as possible. This would have given the IJN a land-based fighter of similar performance as the Ki-61 (and using the same engine), just faster, longer-ranged and with slightly inferior armament before PH. So I think the He-100 D is definitely a worthy missing aircraft, rather closer to being in Japanese service than other German types.

Noted, I will do some more research into this. Since what I am working on is a no Washington/London Treaties mod for the game, and not in any way trying to be realistic (basically all the powers get to build their full dream fleets) there is no reason not to include this aircraft.

Fantastic lists, I've seen some of these in other mods. I would also love to see some of the Chinese and Thai aircraft, if/when folks get time to help the artisticly retarted (me)[:D]

"With Italian east africa on the map, has anyone considered Italian aircraft?" Funny. I'm adding this to my mod.

The art can be acquired from the WITM mod.
