Can't take Gibraltar

Can't take Gibraltar

As near as I can tell, the Axis cannot take Gibraltar except by going overland through Spain.

Airpower can reduce Gibraltar to empty, but even so, neither paradrops nor amphib landings can be made.

Since the Axis cannot declare war on Spain, the only alternative seems to be diplomacy.

This means that Great Britain will not surrender since it is also a VP hex.

Hmmm.  Only slightly related but in my game, Spain joined the Axis, a joint Spanish/German TF took Gibraltar.  My German unit actually was the first to occupy it-- HOWEVER, the hex showed as "Spanish Control" even so.

the attack came from a Spanish Hex, so Spanish control

I just came on the board to ask the same exact question. So you need Spain as an ally first?

Gibraltar doesn't come up as a coastal hex so even if I somehow bombed any units out of there it wont accept an amphib invasion and paratroops won't work either.

And for some reason my fleet can't enter the Med since Gibraltar is blocking me, even though its a small unit garrisoning the rock
