Identify this unit insignia

I am interested in finding out information on the insignia that appears on the cab of the nearest DUKW / Boat / whatever was used as flotation for the bridge.
At first glance it appears to be a star of david, but it has to be something else.

Probably a local visual marking used by the unit. Triangle point up = 1st Plt, triangle point down = 2nd plt, superimposed triangles = 3rd plt.

Maybe.
