Auto Victory

Post by ImaginaryBaron »

I don't know if this has been asked yet and I realize it's very early to be bringing this question up, since I'm only in the middle of January 42 in my Allied GC.. but what the heck.

Is there a way to opt out of the auto victory and keep playing? This could be a very nice feature for those of us playing allied against the computer and who want to keep carrying out the war. I invested a lot of time into my GC and I'd hate to make all of these long term strategic plans with the eventual goal of invading Japan just to have my game arbitrarily cut short by a victory point disparity. I'm not arguing against the victory point system, I realize its necessary, particularly for PBEMs and the Japanese player, but I'd like the option to play my game out to 1946.

If this is not an option and is not going to be added, is there a way to edit victory points in save game files?

In WITP you could play past the auto victory. I always did as I wanted to see my strategies play out.

I hope that's true with AE. I'll be very disappointed if it's not.

In stock, whenever I played the AI, auto-victory always kicked in on January 1st, 1944. But the game gave you the option to play beyond that date.

The good news in AE, however, is that I suspect it's going to be MUCH harder to achieve auto-victory. The pace/tempo of the game is much slower. Gone are the days of the Allied holding the Marianas in mid-1943, Iwo Jima, Rangoon and Signapore and part of the PI by late 1943.
