Meeting TFs

Post by Cribtop »

I'm having trouble with meeting TFs.

Twice I've had troop transport TFs approaching Lunga. I ordered a SCTF based at Rekata to meet and then follow the transports at distance zero. Both times, the SCTF appeared to sail to the transport TF, then proceed on ahead to the destination hex (Lunga). The whole point was to give the transports a beefier escort as they entered the danger zone.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I think when you set a second TF to "meet" a first TF, the second TF will sail to the destination of the first TF and meet it there. So, if the first TF is going to Lunga, the second "meeting" TF will sail to Lunga and wait.

Which is exactly what it did. Thanks.

A little disappointing as you waste a day ordering the TFs to meet in a hex and then send them on to the destination rather than having the faster TF meet up with the other en route.

If you had done a follow, I think the "ahead" TF would delay and wait up for the one "behind" to catch up prior to the destination hex.

Or with meet you can plot first tf to "remain on station" of a hex nearby then they will meet each other. Somewhat of micromanagement though.

Follow/Meet is set up for a meeting as soon as possible. If the TFs meet at sea they should then stay together. If you have a circumstance where they do not, please post a save.
