Problems with the screen

For some reason my game does not update the screen, the game is slow, thats ok, but if I look into harbour, the game shows something (usually list of planes), I need to move mouse cursor to update the screen. I am running the game under Vista but have already set the compability mode on - so where should I start to fix this really annoying problem???
