PBEM opponent list

Post by Sonny »

Is there a thread dedicated to looking for PBEM victim...er opponents? Some sort of sign up sheet. I'm ready for a game the minute the installation is complete.:) Who needs rules - I wanna bumble through just like the real commanders did!

Sonny,

I'm sure we'll be able to scare up opponents here on this board, for one, but I also read a clip somewhere that WarfareHQ will be setting up / hosting a ladder for UV...

I'll check it out and see what I can find. I'm not really interested in playing any "official competition " games but I will if that is the only way to get opponents.

Sonny,

It's not the only way - I will certainly be interested in a PBEM game once I get my hands on this beauty...

It would be nice if there was a list. I dont neccessarily want to pressure of ladder games...especially if a long campaign game could take months.

PBEM

Hi, Don't worry any one ever wanting a PBEM game only has to send me a first turn or e-mail requesting me to send them a first turn and away we'll go. I have lots of both time and harddrive space. If I am not getting PBEM turns every few hours I'll start experiancing a panic attack. ( "what are they waiting for?....what can be taking so long?...."guess I'll fight the AI for a while?...)

Mogami:

My email is Snigbert@cs.com

When you get your copy send me a first turn and we can do one of the long campaigns, and I'll take the Americans.

I prefer historical vs no-midway, but I'll play you either way.

O.K. let's make this the semi-unofficial list.

I don't have as much time as Mogami but I'll be either side Probably won't play more than 2 games at a time - pick your options.

Likewise - I'll be interested in a couple of simultaneous games once we have it. I don't have a preference for side, but I do like the idea of the "No Midway" option (like WitSP), but even that is negotiable...

Stupid question from beginner

Post by U2 »

Hi Guys!

I am not a beginner when it comes to wargaming but I have never played a PBEM game.

My very stupid question is if this is possible with a hotmail adress ot just with "fixed" email adresses that comes with your internet subscription.

Please take some time and help a lost Swede.

Two minutes for my northern neighbour. PBEM usually consists of 'saved game'-files send back and forth between the opponents via e-mail attachments. I would presume the usual e-mail providers/programs/addresses will be able to manage that.
I'm not sure what you mean with the address that comes with the subscription. You cannot attach data to the e-mails generated with the e-mail-function on the 'profile'-page of this forum, if that is what you mean. You will have to use your 'normal' e-mail account for PBEM.

To U2

After you play a turn you send the next turn by email to your opponent.

To send the file you can use either your usual email address or else you can use a hot mail address.

It does not matter which.

Its probably a good idea to use a hot mail address if you are concerned about SPAM.

Stars and stripes all the way here :) I do like the good guys. I will play any scenario, but my preference would be the campaigns.
