This is PG! (aka. this rocks)

Wow, after playing through a single mission, the tutorial and two opening scenarios of the first campaign, I am ready to recommend this to PG fans. If you like panzer general gameplay, take a look!

It does feel PG!

Agh, I have to stop playing now, cause I have to meet some friends for GO & Tichu playing this evening. [;)]

I will try to follow up with more detailed info, after a more serious attempt on decent results in my campaign fighting. (AI took quite an advantage of my lack of planing in the second mission, after an initial successfull breakthrough attempt on my part.)

The UI is still a little rough on the edges, but no show stopper here. Will follow up with some improvement ideas asap.

Actually the AI countered my offense in the third campaign mission, not the second as mentioned above. This time fighters are used to protect my vulnerable artillery and motorized infantry units.

After some more missions under my belt, I would recommend this game definitly to every decent PanzerGeneral player. I am an avid PG Player, but I need quite some crutches to run the PG vintage games on my vista box. Was always hoping for an contemporary version of this great game system.

What do I like about PG / OB TSFR?

Lots of decision making during the missions AND in between. Do I choose to enlist many generic units or do I improve a selected elite force. Do I add a further fighter unit, or will I go for an anti aircraft gun. How do I compose the brigade groups for the several mission objectives to achieve success in time. I have to plan ahead to conserve my valuable assets for mission further down in the campaign ...

I am looking forward to the delivered content (liked what I have seen until now, ai is no slouch, nice mission design) and after that I will await eagerly home made scenarios/campaigns and then I will hope for further installments of a series.

Now a list of some proposed UI improvements for a patch.

1. Unit Information Dialog: A click on the cancel button should close the dialog.

2. Top Right Window Closing Button: Enlarge the event box for the mouse click.

3. Camera Movement: Enlarge camera zooming constrictions, allow rotation (I do not care about a background image, grey backround is fine. Perhaps some work on the mouse picking routine necessary, this is worthwile!)

4. Scroll Bars: Enlarge the scroll tool  (during scrolling some text is marked selected on my box, turn this one off), use mouse scroll wheel (if pointer in the text window)

5. Deselecting units: Make deselecting units by a second click on a selected unit an option

6. Air units/Ground Units Selection: Think about: First click selects air/ground according to preselection, second click switches from ground to air or vice versa, third click deselects (alternative shift click to select air unit)

7. Customizeable Hotkeys

8. Scrollbox should always default to the beginning of the text

9. Show unit type of selected unit (regular, assault ...) in the UI Bar at the bottom

Keep up the good work blokes, thanks for your interpretation of a great theme!

1. Unit Information Dialog: A click on the cancel button should close the dialog.

Actually, just right click anywhere will do the same and it's faster.  This trick also works in other areas.

@Obsolete: Right click anywhere works for sure [8D], but the cancel button should close the dialog anyway

I've added your points to the local wishlist we have. The idea No. 5 is not possible without changing other things as some units execute actions on their very field (e.g. engineers build/repair/destroy; air transported units disembark, bombers destroy bridges/railroads)
