newbie looking for learning GC game [taken]

Post by rattovolante »

Hello, I'm a newbie looking for a human opponent

First and foremost, a note about my skill level:
I'm new to AE, never played WitP. Also I've played the AI only for some game months now. So, all in all I have little actual game experience, although I try to compensate by reading AARs.

I think I now understand the game basics (keep escorts with TFs, how to use sweeps, how to use altitude, etc.) but I'm not sure about being able to plan long-term strategies, as the AI is a very poor partner on these matters (as it doesn't actually react to or actively try to oppose my moves)

So, I think this might interest either other novice players, or experienced players looking for a test game where they can try unusual strategies without worrying too much about their opponent wiping them out ;)

I have no problem playing "for real" against an experienced player, but I don't think I can offer him a good match, as I sort of expect to make horrible newbie mistakes like sending my CVs through known minefields (yes, this actually happened to me vs. the AI) or other such game-crippling stuff... so this might turn out to be a very one-sided game, and it might be boring for my opponent.

Anyway, since my goal is learning the game, I expect to keep playing even if it's clear I'm badly losing. I plan to quit the game before its conclusion (i.e., before both sides agree to end it) only if serious real-life issues arise, preventing me from playing on a regular schedule.

I have no idea how often I can send out turns. I'd guess (based on the time I spend on turns against AI) I can send turns a minimum of 3 days a week on average, I might also be able to do multiple turns in a day. I live in GMT +1 (GMT +2 right now, with DST).

I can play as either Japanese or Allies, although I have somewhat more experience (vs. AI) as Japanese.
I'm ok with any version of the GC (standard, enhanced japanese, Dec 8 start).

Ok, a rather verbose intro... :) but I wished to make clear the points above, to prevent any misunderstandings.

Edit: opponent found, title changed
