Err... the map

Post by zzodr »

Well I gave the demo a whirl and the map made my eyes hurt.
Don't know what it is exactly.... the dark green and the yellow unit description perhaps...
but it just really hard work.

I'm aged in my 30's so I'm not ancient and I don't wear glasses. [:)]

Not a big fan of the naval combat model.... and can't tell what is happening with the air intercept popups,
as in, where is the battle taking place?

I wanted to like it but just couldn't. I like CEaW... easy on the eyes.

Anyway to those that do like it, enjoy!

The game is highly moddable. See some of our map and counter alternatives here:

The naval aspects of the ToW aren't that inspiring, though. Its basically a land game.

Hi zzodr how are you? I felt exactly the same way you do when I downloaded the demo and played it [read my first post on that issue called what the hell] but since I bought the game I have changed my mind to a positive one, The map is quite large compared to strategic command which I have, the map will grow on you after awhile, maybe the green could be toned down slightly, but what I really like is the way movement and combat are handled, which is very well done. I still think air forces are way to powerful but that may be adjusted, I did not like the naval combat at first because I did not understand it very well. I think it is very adequate now that I know how to use naval combat etc., you have to remember zzodr this is mostly a land battle game, it is not WITP, carrier wars and SC's Pacific war, To me the sea war takes a back seat in this game due to focusing on land combat. But they the programmers do a good job having the sea part flow gentley around the land combat. Please reconsider at a future date.
