Lost HI pool? Resource movement bug?

I installed the hotfix (although I guess this is not a hotifx issue) on my Mar 31 turn. I had been stocking away heavy industry points in my pool every turn in the game thus far (PBEM vs Khyberbill, Scen 1).

Then all of the sudden Apr 1,2 turn (we play two day turns) my HI pool dropped from 285,827 to 272,951. I can see no reason for this and have checked the fuel stocks and resource stocks at the major HI centers (particularly Tokyo and Osaka - representing like 4,600 HI centers). They seem to be ample.

There are plenty of resources in Honshu as well - in fact Aomori and Iwaki have 850,000+ resources stocked and several other cities have 200,000+.

My consumption of HI on a daily basis is about 11,450 and I have about 7,000 hi centers. I had been adding a steady 1,500 to 3,000 points of HI per day until this point.

Any idea what happened? Is there a resource movement bug in the home islands?

I can post saves and provide passwords.

On the first of each month, some HI and Oil are used to maintain the pilot training pool.
You would have seen the Used values go up.

Lack of HI and Oil will impact the number of pilots that can be moved through the monthly cycle.
This represents planes and fuel for training purposes.

Yeah, this is the undocumented HI/OIL use I've been thinking of, but one hit on the first of the month is a nasty surprise ... and effectively 20K is a big HI hit ! Esp, when the hit to oil is about 2 K

Pilot training only happens at the end of the month, taking affect on the first.

The rough figure is 1 HI and 1 OIL per pilot being trained. So I would expect numbers used for training to be similar.

No OIL is used in training. It is there but set to 0.
HI used is 5 per pilot per month.

Thanks Micheal, you are a wealth of knowledge, thanks I'll make adjustments ... last Q, Is that calculated daily and applied monthly, or does it just look at the pilots training at the end of the month, and then calculate, thereby any pilots drawn will be excluded ?

Well this could pose some problems in the future - what happens in say 43/44 when the pilots entering training hit 500-600 per month for both the IJA, IJN. This means that after a few months in 44 you could have as many as 10,000-12,000 pilots in training for a draw of up to 60,000 hi per month. That is about 15% of the entire japanese monthly production - assuming your HI is operating at 100% efficiency at this time! After strat bombing - it could go as high as 60% or more.

Ok by me if it's accurate historically. However, the problem from a game standpoint is the japanese have no way to cut it off - you can't tell pilots to not enter training so every month.

Would seem fuel, not oil, is the right commodity if this ever goes back in.
