Japanese Air Reinforcement Notes

Post by Q-Ball »

I have a couple OOB questions for the Japanese Air Reinforcements

First, I noticed Ryuho's airgroups enter in November of 1943, while the ship enters in November of 1942. Is this an error, or as designed?

Second, most of the IJN Air reinforcements in April '42 belong to 13th Air Flotilla. Are these units all permanently restricted? If so, that's alot of airpower stuck in the Home Islands!

I'm sure it's realistic, but are other Japanese players finding that there is a paucity of Land-Based IJN air units? There aren't a ton of non-restricted fighters, and some of those units are slated for withdrawl. There are hardly any non-restriced TBs and DBs, though it helps that you can re-size the DB units and make them larger (not the TBs though).

Overall, I don't see a reason to accelerate Ryuho at all if she doesn't come with airgroups, particularly since there aren't alot of other units you can use to stock her with. Same goes for the CS to CVL conversions; lack of airgroups makes these much less valuable. In WITP, there were more LBA Zero, Kate units available that you could use, but not now.

None of this is a complaint mind you, just adds to the challenge!

Is this what others are finding?
