naval loses

Why doesn't the program tell you if you have lost a vessel or am I not seeing things right. I see the hits on my vessels but when one is destroyed it does not tell me [at least I dont think so]I have to look in my fleets to see if the warship is still there. If what I am saying is correct it must be corrected [please.]
